ZnO nanocrystalline/graphene absorbing composite material

         Absorbing materialIt is an important type of material with a wide range of applications, from military stealth technology to electromagnetic wave interference problems. Although traditional metal electromagnetic shielding materials can meet the demand to a certain extent, due to their large weight, poor environmental tolerance, and limitations in manufacturing processes, it has become urgent to find a more promising electromagnetic absorbing and shielding material.
         Advanced Institute of TechnologyResearchers have achieved some innovative research results in this area. They prepared graphene composite materials modified with ZnO nanocrystals using in-situ growth method in organic solvents. This composite material has the following characteristics: ZnO nanocrystals are uniformly distributed on graphene layers, and the particle size distribution is narrow (6-12nm), without agglomeration. Under the conditions of a filling mass fraction of 15% and a sample thickness of 2.4mm, this composite material can achieve a reflection loss of -54.2 dB in the frequency range of 2-18 GHz, and an effective absorption bandwidth of 6.7 GHz, demonstrating superior electromagnetic wave absorption performance.
So, why does this ZnO nanocrystal/graphene absorbing composite material have such excellent performance? On the one hand, the special structure of ZnO nanocrystals and the conductivity of graphene enable this composite material to effectively absorb electromagnetic wave energy. On the other hand, the interaction between ZnO nanocrystals and graphene also plays an important role. Researchers have found that ZnO nanocrystals can form a tight bond with graphene, thereby enhancing the stability and absorbing properties of composite materials.

However, the research on this ZnO nanocrystal/graphene absorbing composite material is still in the exploratory stage, and there are still many problems that need to be solved. For example, how to further improve the absorption performance of composite materials and their stability and reliability in practical applications. In addition, researchers also need to conduct in-depth research on the interaction mechanism between ZnO nanocrystals and graphene, as well as the influencing factors on the absorption properties of composite materials.
