The difference between tin plating and nickel plating on brass foil, and the benefits in practical applications

Chemical Tin Plating on Brass

Different copper contents result in varying degrees of corrosion resistance.

1. The copper content varies. The copper content of tin plated brass is lower than that of tin plated brass. becauseTin plated copperThe surface has been coated with a layer of tin, and the tinned copper is mostly cast copper, commonly known as "brass", while the enameled copper is mostly electroplated copper, commonly known as "purple copper".

2. The degree of corrosion resistance varies. In terms of corrosion resistance of copper daily products in the natural environment, tin plated copper has a longer corrosion resistance life than tin plated copper.

Copper foil nickel plating: By electrolysis or chemical methods
The method of plating a layer of nickel on a metal or some non-metal is called nickel plating. Nickel plating can be divided into electroplated nickel plating and electroless nickel plating. Electroplated nickel plating is a process of depositing a uniform and dense nickel coating on the cathode (plated part) in an electrolyte composed of nickel salt (referred to as the main salt), conductive salt, pH buffer, and wetting agent. The anode is made of metallic nickel, and the cathode is the plated part. Direct current is applied to deposit the coating on the cathode (plated part). Bright nickel is obtained from the plating solution with added brightener, while dark nickel is obtained from the electrolyte without added brightener.

Chemical plating, also known as electroless plating or self catalytic plating. The specific process refers to the process in which metal ions in an aqueous solution are reduced by a reducing agent under certain conditions and precipitate onto the surface of a solid substrate. This process is different from displacement plating, as the coating can continuously thicken [2], and the deposited metal itself also has catalytic ability.

Copper foil tin platingIt is a coating with good weldability and certain corrosion resistance, widely used in electronic components and printed circuit boards. In addition to physical methods such as hot-dip and spray coating, methods such as electroplating, immersion plating, and chemical plating have been widely used in industry for their simplicity and feasibility in the preparation of tin layers. Immersion plating is the process of immersing a workpiece in a solution containing the desired metal salt, and depositing a metal coating on the surface of the workpiece according to the principle of chemical displacement.
This is different from the general principle of chemical plating, as the plating solution does not contain reducing agents. Different from contact plating, contact plating involves immersing the workpiece in a solution of metal salt to be plated, which must be tightly connected to an active metal. This active metal acts as an anode and releases electrons into the solution. Metal ions with higher potential in the solution obtain electrons and deposit them on the surface of the workpiece. Tin dipping is only performed on iron, copper, aluminum, and their respective alloys.

2、 Purpose:

This is an environmentally friendly chemical tin plating solution specifically designed for brass, with a very dense and corrosion-resistant coating. The coating is uniform and very bright, not easily discolored, does not fog, and is environmentally friendly, non-toxic, and harmless.

3、 Indicator:

① Composed of two components;

② Specific gravity>1.38-1.42;

③ Light yellow transparent liquid.

4、 Usage:

① After diluting with water, add 30g/kg of additive to the working solution and heat to 100 ℃.

② Soak the brass that has been degreased, derusted, and polished in the above-mentioned working solution at 100 ℃ for 10 minutes.

③ Take out the workpiece, wash it with water, and dry it.

5、 Attention:

① Irritating to the skin, not in contact with the skin;

② Use stainless steel containers, plastic containers, or ceramic containers to hold the medicine;

③ Gas or stainless steel electric heating tubes can be used for heating.
